  •  Received the Department of Energy’s “Weatherization Lifetime Accomplishment Award”
  • Oversaw development of Home Performance Training Center in Syracuse for NYSWDA (New York State Weatherization Directors’ Association). Center has full size “House of Pressure” as was used to train the 600 plus employees of the Weatherization Program as well as Home Performance Contractors in New York.  James served as the Executive Director of NYSWDA for 5 years
  • Managed the Weatherization Program for two separate counties in New York State
  • Owned a Home Performance company for three years using the Blower Door in the early 80’s when the blower door was first developed

James retired four years ago but has come back to the industry to train the next generation of Home Performance Auditors. James has a passion for this industry, and having been a national speaker on the looming energy crisis, believes there is a great future for residential energy conservation and believes strongly in the BPI Certification process.

Mike Guy has nearly 30 years of energy efficiency experience.  Mike first became interested in and passionate about energy when he had the opportunity to meet with Home Builders, as a Customer Service Representative with Carolina Power and Light Company.  He knew back in 1982 that his life would be dedicated to the Home Performance Industry.

He is very practical about energy efficiency and building science.  His take on it is that “waste just doesn’t make sense”, most especially when the information and materials are readily available to build high performance structures. His practical approach gave him ideas ahead of his time that are only now coming to fruition with the Green Movement.

He is a Certified RESNET HERS Trainer, Rater and Green Rater for the ENERGY STAR® Program.  He is a BPI Senior Building Analyst and Trainer. Over the years, he has also acquired licenses as a General Contractor, Electrical Contractor and a Plumbing and Heating Contractor.  He served our country in the Air Force before graduating from UNC Pembroke with a degree in Business Administration.  His extensive career demonstrates both his expertise and his passion for energy efficiency.   He enjoys being a valuable resource to future generations.
